The Luxury Tented Camps

Camp staff will look after your every need, and will be on attendance virtually around the clock! A large dining tent, as well as a comfortable lounge area with a small reference library, and a typical safari campfire make up the balance of the facilities. Unlike lodges, your guide will be close at hand, and staff will look after your every need.

The camp runs in as eco-friendly way, with all waste etc being disposed of under Park’s guidelines. The location of the camp is fixed but semi - permanent e.g. no permanent structures allowed, and may be moved in the future to follow the game movements.

It is a bush camp, not a lodge, with the following services:

  ITINERARY - GOLD STYLE

Day 1—Lake Manyara National Park (LD):

This morning depart to Lake Manyara NP, flanked by the 500 feet escarpment on the left and the lake on the right. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including leopard, buffalo and elephant. It is famous for its elusive tree-climbing lions and hot springs, reaching a temperature of 60ºC/140ºF - hot enough to cook an egg! Other wildlife includes Maasai giraffe, zebra, warthog, hippo, slender mongoose, blue monkey, honey badger, porcupine, hyena, wildebeest, Coke's hartebeest and impala. The park features the highest density of baboons anywhere in Africa— up to 200 members per troop! In the late afternoon we depart for the  Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Overnight: Luxury tented camp near the Crater Rim

Day 2—Ngorongoro Conservation Area (BLD):

We descend the steep crater wall early this  morning and spend half the day on grass plains that are teeming with animals. The crater is the largest unbroken ancient caldera in the world. Nearly three million years old, the once-volcanic Ngorongoro is considered “Africa’s Garden of Eden” – a haven for thousands of wild game, including lion, cheetah, hyena, huge bull elephants, wildebeests, zebras, elusive rhinos, Thomson’s gazelles, hippos, buffaloes and pink flamingos.

“Serengeti” means “endless plains” and after lunch we drive west via its eastern border all the way to the central Serengeti! You will be amazed by the vast expanse of the Serengeti and we  drive past a few kopjes that will bring back memories of “The Lion King”! After a couple of hours we reach the main road from Ngorongoro to the Serengeti and then it is another hour to the Seronera area. You will love the intimacy of our camp and the nightly camp fire! Overnight: Luxury tented camp in the Serengeti.

Day 3— Serengeti Walking safari (BLD):

After breakfast we meet our armed rangers who will lead us to the starting point of our 2.5 day walking safari. Normally we walk near an area called Lobo - known for its large lion families and other big cats - but other areas are also available! The terrain is mostly flat and open with short grass, affording us 360 degree views of the stunning scenery. The pace is relaxed and our guides take time to teach us the signs of the bush. Nevertheless, a support vehicle is never far away in case someone needs assistance. Tonight we fall asleep in our comfortable yet very portable fly camp with lions roaring nearby! Overnight: Lightweight Mobile Camp the Serengeti.

Day 4— Serengeti Walking safari (BLD):

You carry a small day pack, and our support vehicle with crew will go ahead and set up camp for the night in a beautiful spot! Walking distances vary, but generally we will set off early in the morning before it gets too hot; have a good rest during the heat of the day at the new camp, and enjoy walks in the vicinity of the camp in the cooler afternoon. Our safari chef will prepare tasty meals to be enjoyed in this pristine wilderness area. Overnight: Lightweight Mobile Camp the Serengeti.

Day 5—Central Serengeti (BLD):

After the exciting two days walking in the bush, we return to our luxury camp for a long shower and lunch! In the afternoon  we go in search of the big herds—a magnificent drive across the enormous plains of the Serengeti and central bush areas if needed. It is this liberating sense of space that characterizes the Serengeti Plains, stretching across sun burnt savannah to a shimmering golden horizon at the end of the earth. Yet, after the rains, this golden expanse of grass is transformed into an endless green carpet flecked with wildflowers. Overnight: Luxury tented camp in the Serengeti.

Day 6—Central Serengeti (BLD):

We call this “Big Cat Day”! Have your cameras ready as we circle the kopjes and rivers looking for leopard, cheetah and lion! But be prepared for many delightful wildlife surprises—the central Serengeti never disappoints! It is one of few areas where one can watch a cheetah hunt and see lions in trees! Overnight: Luxury tented camp in the Serengeti.

Day 7—Arusha (B):

This morning enjoy a scenic flight back to to Arusha. If you booked a safari extension, you fly or drive to your next destination where new adventures await!
