It is hard to understand why so many  people are willing to pay more for less!

In East Africa the international safari companies are highly profitable, yet the local people remain desperately poor. The huge profits are not reaching the safari guides and service personnel.

We humbly ask that you look around before settling on a luxury safari company.

What is a Luxury Safari?

Once you have been on a luxury Kiliwarrior safari you will never go back to a lesser experience!

"Luxury" is a very relative concept – for a safari agent or outfitter  it usually means whatever “deals” they can negotiate (with lodges and ground operators) that will eventually get classified as “luxurious” in their itineraries!  Anyone familiar with the luxury end of the safari industry in East Africa will find many glaring deficiencies in self-proclaimed luxury safaris from overrated companies who feature so prominently in glossy travel magazines!  Luxury rates don't always translate into luxury safaris!

Here at Kiliwarrior Expeditions, we define luxury as Ease, Time and Space.

Picture yourself on a truly Luxurious and Exclusive Kiliwarrior Safari

Ease

A luxury safari has all the details taken care of.

You have been thinking about Africa for a while. Maybe this is your first time, or maybe you want to return to see more of the magic you experienced on a previous safari! You talk to your travel agent and/or research the internet for ideas about luxury destinations in Africa.

When you close your eyes you see vast landscapes dotted with wildlife. You see circular Maasai villages on green hills and tall warriors dressed in bright red. You hear the romantic soundtrack of "Out of Africa" and remember the tender moments in "Gorillas in the Mist". You make your decision - EAST AFRICA!

Thousands of companies arrange safaris to East Africa. A handful is known for luxury itineraries. You and your agent browse their websites and brochures looking for luxury accommodations, romantic moments and unique experiences.  Several phone calls later and then it hits you - you are doing all the work! You are talking to overseas booking agents with sales commissions and limited experience of East Africa. They are friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about their brochure itineraries but you want more.

Then you call Kiliwarrior Expeditions. You talk directly with the owners. Choose one of our scheduled departure dates or have your safari custom designed by Eben himself. Born in Africa, he has personally been to every upscale lodge/camp in the parks of interest and with Carol's input they create extraordinary itineraries for their discerning clients. Best parks for the time of the year, best accommodations, best cultural interactions, best transportation and the most wildlife! They optimize your safari experience so you can relax and focus on other things!

To further simplify your safari planning, you can:

bullet

Expect a choice of payment methods from credit cards to bank transfers to checks.

bullet

Ask about our concierge services for time-consuming tasks such as obtaining visas and for emergencies such as international flight cancellations.

bullet

Choose between two travel insurance companies with flexible packages for all budgets.

You are thinking of shipping your safari luggage to East Africa and back:

bullet

You call our agent or log on to place your order. They can be at your home within 24 hours nationwide. After your order is placed, you will receive an e-mail confirmation that your order has been initiated.

bullet

On the day of pick-up our agent arrives at your home and wraps each of the bags in protective covering, protecting the bags from dirt, damage, and theft, and transfers them to the nearest airport. The bags are then placed in a forward freight system, where they are delivered to your destination.

bullet

Once the bags have landed, our local agent picks them up at the airport, clears your bags through customs, and then transfers them to your safari lodge.

bullet

You arrive at your hotel or lodge, refreshed from your hassle free travel experience, where you are met by your luggage waiting for you.

bullet

For the return trip, the process is reversed.

You and your family may have the financial means to travel to Africa by private jet:

bullet

Our charter partners have an assortment of jets available such as the Falcon 900 and the Embraer Legacy 600.

bullet

We work with trusted handlers in East Africa to manage all aspects of international travel such as customs and immigration. We will need the name, date of birth and passport information for each passenger, as well as your departure airport of choice and expected luggage weight.

bullet

Our charter specialist will begin processing the necessary documentation and also inform you of any required visas, immunizations or customs stops that may impact your preparations and travel.

bullet

Expect to fly from the USA to Europe where you will probably overnight in London, Amsterdam or Paris for aircraft maintenance and paperwork processing before you continue your journey to East Africa.

bullet

Every private jet travels with a well-stocked beverage cabinet and a full array of light snacks. Coffee, tea, water, juices, a variety of soft drinks and a fully stocked bar are always on board. Snacks including cookies and chips are also provided. Our charter partners have relationships with many of the world's most celebrated chefs including Mario Batali, Todd English, Emeril Lagasse, Danny Meyer and Masaharu Morimoto. Our charter specialist can coordinate delicious in-flight meals and superb wine pairings from expert caterers, a partner chef's restaurants or the restaurant of your choosing!

bullet

On long international flights, entertainment is very important and each of our jets is equipped, at minimum, with Airshow flight tracker, a CD, DVD and VCR players, including film and music libraries. In-flight phones, Direct TV, Internet and fax access are also available on some jets. In the event that members of your party have different film or music tastes, portable devices can also be provided. If there is a specific film or CD you'd like made available, just let us know and it will be waiting for you, as our gift, when you board.

bullet

Flight time can also be a convenient opportunity to take advantage of a wide range of services. Discuss your interests with our charter specialist who will be happy to schedule additional amenities including in-flight spa treatments, beauty services, and even Swahili tutoring or wildlife lessons. With an in-flight experience this good, it's hard to get off the plane!

Whether you arrive by private jet or commercial aircraft, when you arrive in East Africa our team is waiting to take care of you from the moment you step off the plane. You are escorted by our guides and hosts who will assist you with everything from transfers to shopping!

In serious emergencies, our team will contact our USA office who will coordinate the resolution from Flying Doctors evacuations to lost luggage!

In most cases we take care of problems before you are even aware of them! This makes us very different!

While on safari and using our vehicles, you have the very best conveniences such as A/C, a fridge, battery chargers, pop-top roof for shading & protection, camera stabilizing devices (from bean bags to clamps), etc.

Time

A luxury safari slows down to truly observe the wildlife and to enjoy nature and the local people.

You chose East Africa because its greatest assets are its people, its phenomenal untouched wilderness and of course ... an abundance of wildlife. You need time to take it all in, and for yourself. Looking at your Kiliwarrior itinerary you will notice:

bullet

Very few one-night stays. We prefer 3 or more nights at most camps and lodges.

bullet

Minimum transfer times. We use inter-camp flights when it makes sense.

bullet

Daily activities are never scripted - flexible meal times and game drives.

bullet

Less packing and unpacking!

bullet

Several stops in remote areas to interact with the Maasai and other local communities.

Your Kiliwarrior safari offers perfect simplicity. At Sabora Plains Tented Camp your vast wooden deck is perfect for contemplation and relaxation as you gaze across the openness of the plains. You grab your binoculars and look for a long time at a line of zebra making their way to a water hole in front of camp. This is the kind of place where the real world is simply chased away by a gentle afternoon breeze.

Then you grab a book and finally make the time to read... that is, before the fresh African air conquers your senses and you have to retire to your luxury tented bedroom for an afternoon nap.

Space

A luxury safari means fewer people.

bullet

Private vehicles for families and/or friends (some camps charge extra for private vehicles).

bullet

Intimate bush lodges or luxury tented  camps.

bullet

Locations out of reach of the average safari tourist.

The exclusivity of your Kiliwarrior Grandeur Tented Camp means you have this wild area of the bush all to yourself! At any one time, there will be no other guests which means that exclusivity and privacy are simply part of the deal.

At Sasakwa Lodge an outdoor picnic has been arranged for you on the Serengeti plains, providing all the sustenance you will need after a long game drive. We're talking Persian rugs, French champagne and a picnic basket brimming with culinary delights.

At Serian Camp in the Masai Mara a sundowner in a remote location during a private game drive is another major highlight. Certainly watching the sun go down behind the escarpment is a major treat as you wait for the nocturnal animals to face their day.

Brochure safaris are not worth your effort, time and money.

We analyzed a selection of popular brochure safaris. Please read our reports.
